Michael joins Brooklyn Rider!

Michael is thrilled to announce that he will join the Brooklyn Rider string quartet in its first personnel change in its 10-year history. Michael will be replacing founding cellist Eric Jacobsen, who is stepping down to concentrate on his conducting career. This represents a bold new direction in Michael’s career, and he is beyond excited to explore the rich and diverse repertoire of the string quartet literature with his inspiring new colleagues. NY Times Review of Here and Now Festival

Anthony Tommasini reviewed Michael’s performance of Annie Gosfield’s Burn Again With a Low Blue Flame in the New York Times today. The concert was part of the Here and Now festival at Bargemusic. Michael will be performing the piece again in his upcoming solo show in Chicago, at Constellation.

Michael was cited in the New York Times today, in a review of last night’s “ethereal” ICE concert at the Park Avenue Armory. Read the review here.

Michael’s next destination is South Korea, for Ensemble Ditto’s 2014 Encore Tour.

Back home for the holiday

Michael is back home after several weeks on the road, including concerts in Chicago, San Diego, and England. He had a nice review from his Chicago performance here, and performances in San Diego and Huddersfield, England were also well-received. This week’s Thanksgiving plans include dinner with his sister, who is roasting a giant turkey.
